All orders placed in Pounds Sterling (£) and sent within the European Union (EU) will be subject to VAT (Value Added Tax). This is charged at the prevailing rate for the member state.
Charles Tyrwhitt has a policy of charging all customers the same throughout the world, so that the price paid in pounds sterling is the same wherever customers live (except for the cost of delivery). This means that all customers pay the same price for items wherever they reside. It is important to note that non-EU customers are not charged VAT, however, they will pay the prices advertised online and in our brochures.
For example, this means that if both a non-EU customer and an EU customer purchase the same £29.95 shirt, you will both pay the same £29.95 total item cost. The EU customer is actually paying £23.96 for the shirt, along with £5.99 in VAT. The non-EU customer is paying £29.95 for the shirt alone.
Significant additional administrative costs for overseas customers are covered within the prices we charge. Our overseas delivery charges are a flat rate and fully trackable (if you have ordered with Global-e) whether you are ordering 1 item or 100 items. We also cover all costs in the event that an international parcel should go missing.
Equally, an effective reduction in prices through reclaiming the amount equivalent to VAT by customers who are based outside the EU is not available.
